Five Corners — Jacqy Lopez received $5,000 from HomeStreet Bank to go toward a new home she was able to buy thanks to the Portland-based nonprofit Proud Ground, which provides affordable homebuying opportunities. Lopez’s three-bedroom, two-bath home cost her $147,500 after it appraised for $215,000, according to a release from Proud Ground. It was made affordable through grants from Clark County’s Department of Community Services and the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Self-help Home Ownership Program. Proud Ground launched in Portland in 1999 and expanded to Clark County in 2014, and Lopez is the first Clark County resident to receive a HomeStreet donation through the program.
