The family of the 2-year-old girl severely beaten two weeks ago said the child remains in critical condition.

Trinity Compani-Holder is now awake, but her family still doesn’t know how much impairment there will be or how long the recovery will take, the girl’s grandmother Deborah Holder said.

Kyle Stephen Brian Holder, 32, is accused of beating his daughter on the night of June 28 at the Sunnyside Motel, a residential motel at 12200 N.E. Highway 99.

Trinity and her mother, Barbara Keller, were sleeping in their room when Kyle Holder walked in, grabbed Trinity, carried her to the open window and threw her out onto a concrete walkway, according to a probable cause affidavit filed in the case. He then walked outside, picked up Trinity and repeatedly threw her to the ground, the affidavit said.

A man in a neighboring room at the motel intervened with a baseball bat and stopped the attack. Kyle Holder faces a charge of attempted first-degree domestic violence murder.

Family members have set up a donation account intended to help pay for Trinity’s recovery and to help support Keller, who hasn’t been able to work because of the incident.
