For the first six days of the month we have had three days of above-average high temperatures and three days of below average. The average, by the way, is 78 degrees. As of 5 p.m. Wednesday there was no measurable rainfall in the bucket for Vancouver. That will change quickly.
A large trough of low pressure from the Gulf of Alaska will drop over us today through the weekend, bringing showers and cooler temperatures. I fact, I don’t see any high temperatures anywhere near normal for the next week or so. Summer? Uh no, maybe April or early May weather.
With the upper atmosphere cooling, snow levels drop down to near Timberline. Several inches will fall over the weekend, just above the lodge. So plan accordingly if hiking, backpacking or climbing in the mountains this weekend.
We get a break on Monday maybe, but at this point another trough of cold low pressure is slated to follow this one for next week. Details are too sketchy so stay tuned as always. Depending on where the cold front hangs up we might see an area of continuous rain, which would add greatly to the rain gauge.
