Nancy Steiger, the chief executive of PeaceHealth’s Columbia Network, has announced she is leaving the role seven months after taking the job that oversees PeaceHealth’s hospitals in Vancouver and Longview.

“After nine fulfilling years serving the mission of PeaceHealth and our communities, and with a strong new executive team in place, I’ve decided it’s the right time to consider the next chapter in my life and career,” Steiger wrote in a statement shared with caregivers on Thursday afternoon. She previously led the Bellingham-based Northwest Network of hospitals for eight years.

Steiger’s last day will be July 15. She will be replaced on an interim basis by PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center’s chief operating officer, Wade Hunt. PeaceHealth St. John Medical Center will for now be led by its chief administrative officer, Kirk Raboin.

“PeaceHealth will conduct a thorough and thoughtful search for a proven chief executive for the Columbia Network,” PeaceHealth executive vice president Beth O’Brien wrote in an email to employees.

Steiger started her career as an oncology nurse and moved into executive roles at two Northern California hospitals before joining Vancouver-based PeaceHealth.

“Nancy has been a strong leader at PeaceHealth,” O’Brien wrote. “During her time with us, she has led two large networks and has been a mission-committed leader in promoting community and personal health.”

PeaceHealth is Clark County’s largest private employer and moved its headquarters from Bellevue to Vancouver in 2011. The system of 10 medical centers spanning three states has seen a major shakeup among top executives since relocating, including the departure of PeaceHealth CEO Alan Yordy, who was replaced by Liz Dunne effective Nov. 1 last year.
