Thirteen members of the Evergreen Storm Track Team won events during the USA Track and Field Pacific Northwest Association Junior Olympics Championships.

The meet, for the western side of Washington, was held June 24-26 in Seattle.

The top eight in each event advance to the regional meet this Thursday through Sunday in Seattle. Of the 53 Storm athletes at the state-level meet, 49 qualified for regionals in at least one event.

Trey Knight of Ridgefield won two throwing events for boys 13-14. His shot put mark of 62 feet, 3 inches was farther than the national record for his age. But according to Storm coach Scott Timmons the mark is not official because the facility was not certified properly.

Knight also won the discus with a mark of 188-2, a mark that is 7 feet from the national record for his age.

Also in the boys 13-14 age division, David McAndie of Stevenson won the high jump by clearing 5 feet, 5 inches. A Storm relay team of Vincenzo Robles, Connor Hayward, Mitchell Hayward and Russell Blair won the 3,200-meter relay race in 10 minutes, 45 seconds.

Other boys who won events were Xavier Wubena (11-12 discus, 66-6), Daniel Furcron (15-16 discus, 118-4), Tyler Dinh (11-12 3,000 meters, 10:32.04) and Miguel De La Melena (15-16 3,000 meters, 9:46.19).

Girls who won events were Preslay Timmons (15-16 800 meters, 2:28.6), Savanah Kehler (17-18 3,000 meters, 12:17.45) and Lucy George (13-14 100 hurdles, 15.45).

In addition to the champions, the Storm had 16 second-place finishes and 16 third-place finishes.
