Winter finally made an appearance Saturday with lots of snow in the mountains down to 1,500 feet and cold rain and hail showers here in the lowlands. The wind had a bit of a bite to it as well.
Nice way to end the month of January, isn’t it? The cold air mass will continue today with scattered showers and wet snow down to 1,000 feet in heavier showers but also a taste of sunshine in between.
The upcoming week looks cool with not a whole lot of rain — just a chance of showers or rain each day, as most falls to our south. Highs in the 40s and lows in the 30s round it out.
February rolls in Monday, and we look forward to Groundhog Day on Tuesday. I suspect the relatives of the great one in Pennsylvania may see the shadow in our neck of the woods. We’ll see what the official groundhog Punxsutawney Phil has to say. It is time to get out the old video with Bill Murray, “Groundhog Day,” which is an annual ritual, of course.
