The Evergreen and Mountain View volleyball teams will each have a new coach to lead them into the Class 3A Greater St. Helens League next fall.
Kadi Henderson was hired at Evergreen to replace Joe Boken, Evergreen athletic director Keenan Burris said.
Rachael Howington has been hired to coach Mountain View.
Burris said Henderson was most recently an assistant volleyball coach at Union, and she teaches at Evergreen.
Henderson is a graduate of Southern Utah University, where she played softball. She is a Union High School graduate, where she was a four-year letter winner in softball and a three-year letter winner in volleyball.
Howington, who in recent years has been an assistant at Battle Ground, will take her first head coaching job at the high school level.
“I know that Mountain View has a lot of talent and potential,” Howington said. “I feel I can add to the program. I’m excited to take the program, build it, and create an atmosphere of dedicated, hard-working girls.”
Howington has been a head coach at the club level for years. She also was a co-coach for a season at Hockinson last decade, filling in for maternity leave for the head coach, but this is her first high school varsity head coaching gig.
“Her passion for both the sport of volleyball and the students themselves will be a great addition to our community,” said Adam Mathison, Mountain View’s athletic director.
Evergreen and Mountain View will each move down from the 4A GSHL to the 3A GSHL in the new classification cycle, which starts next school year.
