Boys basketball: Skyview 51, Battle Ground 48

A second-quarter surge proved to be the difference as the visiting Storm edged the Tigers in a 4A Greater St. Helens League game.

Skyview (7-11, 5-5) outscored Battle Ground 15-6 in the second quarter, taking advantage of eight Tiger turnovers in the period. Battle Ground (7-11, 3-7) finished with 23 turnovers in the game.

“We just didn’t take care of the ball when we needed to,” Battle Ground coach Wes Armstrong said.

Mason Scheidel led Skyview with 13 points and Alex Schumacher had 10 points.

Renato Mendoza and Kyle Cahoon scored 13 points apiece for Battle Ground.
