Sturgeon effort and catches in the Bonneville pool of the Columbia River Gorge improved last week, with boaters getting a legal fish about every five rods.
Some walleye also showed up in the catch in the John Day pool.
Two local waters were stocked recently with rainbow trout.
In Clark County, Klineline Pond at Salmon Creek Park got 1,900 trout. In Skamania County, Kidney Lake near North Bonneville got 2,600 rainbows.

Mid-Columbia — Bonneville pool, 138 boaters with 27 legal sturgeon kept plus one legal and 648 sublegals released; 38 bank rods with one oversize and 11 sublegal sturgeon released.
• The Dalles pool, two anglers with two wild steelhead released; 20 bank rods with no sturgeon; 46 boaters with seven legal sturgeon kept plus one oversize and 86 sublegals released.
• John Day pool, 12 boaters and three bank rods with no steelhead; 21 bank rods with no sturgeon; 53 boaters with one legal sturgeon kept plus one oversize and 19 sublegals released; 36 boaters with six walleye kept and one released.
Cowlitz — Fourteen bank rods with one hatchery winter steelhead kept; three boaters with no catch.
