Battle Ground jazz combo named finalist in national competition

Battle Ground — Battle Ground High School’s Jazz Combo was picked as a finalist in the Charles Mingus High School Competition, which takes place Feb. 12-15 in New York City. The students will not only compete, but will also have a chance to attend clinics and workshops hosted by educators and professional musicians at the Manhattan School of Music. They will also have the opportunity to participate in jam sessions at the school. The combo consists of Cade O’Haver on piano, Elliot Shannon on bass, Aaron Tuchardt on drums, Miles Meyer on drums, Erik Reinhardt on trumpet, Steve Montecucco on trumpet, Riley Brown on trombone and Owen Lantz on saxophone. They are directed by Greg McKelvey.
