Miracle Alford-Lewis capped a second-half rally with a game-winning 3-pointer on Tuesday, lifting Fort Vancouver to a 54-52 non-league boys basketball win over visiting Black Hills of Olympia.
The winning shot went down after first bouncing on the rim twice, capping a Trappers comeback from a 21-point halftime deficit.
“The kids just fought through,” Fort coach James Ensley said.
The winning play started with a missed free throw by Black Hills with the Wolves up 52-51. Fort hustled up the court. James Husband Jr. drove from the right wing toward the free-throw line and then passed the ball to the open Alford-Lewis in the left conrer.
Mitchell Cooper scored 16 points and had a double-double with at least 10 rebounds according to Ensley, who said Cooper played his best game of the season down low.
