A $247,196 grant for educating youth about the impact of marijuana use will provide education, awareness programs and resources to target the highest needs in Clark and Skamania counties. Resources include toolkits, social media campaigns, school policy support and retailer education.

The two-year grant was received by ESD 112 and PREVENT! Coalition, in partnership with Clark County Public Heath. It was funded by the State Department of Health through a portion of the state’s marijuana sales.

The recent legalization of marijuana among adults in Washington has raised questions for educators, businesses and parents. About 8 percent of eighth-graders, 18 percent of 10th-graders and 27 percent of 12th-graders reported having used marijuana in the previous 30 days, according to Washington State Healthy Youth Survey.
