Military history talks planned on third Thursdays of month

A series of military history talks will be held on the third Thursdays of the month at Vancouver’s Marshall House, 1301 Officers Row.

The free programs will be from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. through June 16. They will be hosted by the Fort Vancouver National Trust and presented by the Vancouver Barracks Military Association.

All presenters are retired officers or noncommissioned officers who have served in the U.S. Army or Army Reserve.

People who plan to attend are asked to email the association at president@vbma.us.

The speaking schedule:

• Feb. 18: Frazier Raymond, Buffalo Soldiers and the Vancouver Barracks.

• March 17: Jack Giesen, World War I Ambulances.

• April 21: Kelly Jones, Changing Army Culture, A Female Perspective.

• May 19: Daniel Sockle, ISIS/ISIL: 2015-2016 Update on the Islamic State.

• June 16: Bruce Mulkey, The Oregon Trail and Today’s Mass Migrations.
