Police officers shocked a man with a Taser and arrested him after he allegedly failed to pull over promptly for a traffic stop then created a disturbance that caused staff to lock the doors at the Clark County courthouse, according to the Vancouver Police Department.

Officers went to pull over a man driving in downtown Vancouver around 1 p.m., but he didn’t pull over right away, then stopped and got out of his vehicle in front of the courthouse, police said.

“He was jumping on the statue in front of the courthouse, screaming and yelling,” and unnerving a group of protesters outside the building, police spokeswoman Kim Kapp said.

Courthouse staff locked the doors as a precaution, she said

Officers shocked the man to subdue him. They arrested Viorel Muresan, 49, of Vancouver, on suspicion of attempting to elude officers (failure to yield) and disorderly conduct.

No one was injured, Kapp said.
