Taylor Mills of La Center girls basketball was voted The Columbian’s high school winter sports athlete of the week, sponsored by Athletes Corner, for the week ending Jan. 17.

Mills collected 40 percent of the 2,452 votes cast by fans to beat out Andrew Chang of Union swimming, who had 32 percent.

Mills posted three double-doubles, averaging 19 points and 11 rebounds in three wins last week.

The other nominees were Sierra Joner of Battle Ground girls wrestling, Ethan Unger of Camas boys basketball and Dallas Goodpaster of Evergreen boys wrestling.

Nominees and the online ballot are posted at www.360preps.com each Monday and voting continues until 8 p.m. Thursday.

Athletes may be elected player of the week once during the regular season, and no athlete can be nominated for the honor in consecutive weeks.
