Week 5 winter sports prep athlete of the week nominees

Weekly vote, sponsored by Athletes Corner, continues through Thursday

Here are the nominees for The Columbian winter sports prep athlete of the week, sponsored by Athletes Corner, for the week ending Jan. 9.

Voting will continue until 8 p.m. Thursday, with results announced in Friday’s edition of The Columbian.

BEYONCE BEA, WASHOUGAL GIRLS BASKETBALL: Bea averaged 14.5 points and six rebounds in a pair of league wins for the Panthers.

MICHAYLA GARDEN, HUDSON’S BAY GIRLS BOWLING: Garden bowled 10 straigh strikes to finish with a 289 game and a 525 two-game series against Columbia River

SPENCER LONG, COLUMBIA RIVER BOYS BASKETBALL: Long averaged 18.5 points in a pair of non-league wins for the Chieftains.

SAMUEL MALYCHEWSKI, CAMAS BOYS WRESTLING: Malychewski won the 170-pound division at the Bearcast Invitational, winning all three matches by pin.

KYLEE TJENSVOLD, RIDGEFIELD GYMNASTICS: Tjensvold won the bars, beam and floor, taking the all-around with a score of 34.6 in a four-team meet.
