Our weather pattern remains the same with storms splitting as they reach the West Coast and the stronger portion flows easily into California, with lots of rain and snow. The Pacific Northwest gets leftovers with little rain or snow.
East winds will continue to blow in this pattern as long as the systems split and move to the north and south rather than eastward. Forecast models show more modest rainfall about this week and then back to the same old same old with high pressure the dominant weather feature for us. So we could see showery weather the first half of the week.
Temperatures will continue about the same with overnight freezing when skies clear and highs in the 38-45 degree range. As long as we remain status quo under the current strong El Niño regime, there won’t be too much to write home about. I guess we are in the winter doldrums, but no complaints so far as we enjoy the sunny to partly sunny skies when they appear.
That bit of ice last week was a pain, but we’re past that. It would take another shot of cold air to settle in east of the mountains. I had 32 degrees here in Salmon Creek on Friday evening, and it was 35 in Spokane!
