Volunteer Connections provides opportunities through the Human Services Council.

• City of Vancouver Fire Corps volunteers are needed to help with community events, smoke alarm installation, research and technology.

• Clark College seeks English and literacy volunteers in the Transitional Studies Tutoring Center. There will be training for new volunteers, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Jan. 22, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Jan. 23. Attendance at both sessions is required.

• Clark County Genealogical Society is looking for volunteers to staff the society’s library and help others research their family history.

• National Alliance on Mental Illness is looking for help answering phones, greeting clients, housekeeping, with a monthly newsletter, and at events. Experience with data entry and Microsoft Excel is required.

• Parks Foundation of Clark County seeks help with data entry, record keeping and mailing.

• REACH CDC is looking for a coordinator for adult crafts, a bingo caller, exercise instructor, manicurist, organizer and a youth program facilitator.

Columbia Springs seeks volunteer help, 9 a.m. to noon on Jan. 18, at its MLK Day of Service volunteer work party. All ages are welcome and groups larger than five are asked to pre-register.
