Girls basketball: Mark Morris 48, Hockinson 43

The free-throw line made the difference as the host Monarchs edged the Hawks in a 2A Greater St. Helens League game.

Mark Morris outscored Hockinson 20-7 from the foul line. The Hawks made only 7 of 27 free-throw attempts. The Monarchs’ free-throw shooting contributed to a 17-point second quarter and a 15-point fourth quarter.

Payton Wangler scored 16 points and Elle Tilkin had 12 points for Hockinson (4-7, 2-1). Brooke Walling scored 13 points and Kaylee Johnson 12 for Mark Morris (3-6. 1-1).
