Save the Date: Get ready for Oscars with viewings of nominated short films

• With the Oscars on Sunday, you still have a chance to judge some of the nominees for yourself. This year’s Oscar nominated short films will be playing at both the Camas Liberty and Kiggins theaters. Those nominated for the Documentary category, not rated, will be shown at 4:30 p.m. today and 5 p.m. Monday, while those nominated for Live Action, not rated, will be shown at 2:30 p.m. today, 2 p.m. Sunday and 8:15 p.m. Tuesday at the Kiggins Theatre, 1011 Main St., Vancouver. • Dave Lemberg, owner of Dave’s Killer Magic Shop, will give an all-ages magic show at 7 p.m. today in his magic Shop, 1707 Main St., Vancouver. Lemberg has won multiple magic awards, including a card trick contest and the Entertainer of the Year Award from the Society of American Magicians. Looking ahead, its a celebration of music from all corners of the world in March.

• Caspar Babypants will perform a children’s concert featuring folk, pop and rock songs at 3 p.m. March 6 at the Kiggins Theatre, 1011 Main St., Vancouver. Also known as Chris Ballew, the lead singer and songwriter for the Seattle band, The Presidents of the United States of America. • Clark College Orchestra presents “High Strung” at 7:30 p.m. March 9 at the Royal Durst Theatre, 3101 Main St., Vancouver. • The Parks Foundation of Clark County will host St. Paddy’s for Parks, a themed party for those 21 and older to celebrate the green season. The event includes live music, food and drinks from 5 to 11 p.m. March 11 at Shorty’s Garden and Home, 10006 S.E. Mill Plain Blvd., Vancouver. • The Women’s Festival Pacific Northwest celebrates women’s accomplishments with a day of multiple activities focusing on different aspects of life from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 12 at the Fort Vancouver Artillery Barracks, 600 Hatheway Road, Vancouver. The day includes presentations from seven speakers, a catered lunch, displays by local artisans, workshops, makeovers and The Pebble Rebel Award Ceremony. The eight piece ensemble blends brass and string arrangements of original and traditional songs, featuring five vocalists including Quarterflash’s Rindy Ross.
