Union High grad Cody Hawken went 2 for 4 with two two-run home runs and four RBI and fellow Titan grad Caleb Whalen was 1 for 4 with an RBI insurance run in the eighth inning Friday as the Portland Pilots baseball team won its first-ever night game at Joe Etzel Field, 10-7 over Oakland (Mich.).

Hawken’s first two-run homer gave the Pilots a 3-1 lead in the second inning. His second put Portland ahead 5-2 in the third.

Oakland (1-5) would rally to take a 7-6 lead in the seventh inning.

Portland (4-1) regained the lead at 8-7 in the seventh on an error. Then Whalen’s RBI single in the eighth made it 9-7, and he went on to score on a wild pitch to make it 10-7.
