Chief Umtuch to host S.W. Washington Math Challenge

The 2016 Southwest Washington Math Challenge will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 5 at Chief Umtuch Middle School, 700 N.W. Ninth Ave.

The fourth annual competition features individual and team events for fifth- through eighth-graders. This year, 49 teams from Battle Ground Public Schools are participating.

Parents and spectators are welcome to watch from 9 to 9:20 a.m. and from 11:05 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Students compete by grade level to solve word problems and complex equations.

More than 50 volunteer instructors and students from Clark College will help score the challenge.
