A man who allegedly stabbed another man with a screwdriver while stealing items out of his vehicle made a first appearance Thursday in Clark County Superior Court.

Clyde L. Johnson, 31, address unknown, appeared on suspicion of second-degree robbery stemming from a Wednesday incident. However, Superior Court Judge David Gregerson found probable cause for first-degree robbery.

According to court records, the victim, identified by police as Michael Crabb, confronted Johnson while he was inside Crabb’s van in the 9000 block of Mount Baker Avenue in Vancouver. Johnson allegedly used a screwdriver he had stolen from the van to stab Crabb multiple times. Crabb suffered puncture wounds on his arms and shin, and an abrasion.

Johnson ran from the scene with some stolen items from the van, the probable cause affidavit said. He later returned to the scene, however, allegedly to try to locate some property he had dropped. Police chased him and arrested him in a yard, where he had allegedly damaged a fence, the affidavit said.

In addition to the robbery allegation, Johnson had a Department of Corrections warrant, court records show.

During his hearing Thursday, Johnson was appointed a defense attorney to represent him. His bail was set at $80,000.

He is scheduled to be arraigned March 10.
