CAMAS — The Camas School District’s $120 million bond officially passed with 63.13 percent approval. The final results from the Feb. 9 vote were released Friday afternoon, with 4,778 votes in favor of the bond and 2,790 votes against. The money will be used for a standalone high school to be built on Camas High School’s campus and a new, larger Lacamas Heights Elementary School will go in north of Lacamas Lake, near new housing developments.
The bond tax rate is 48 cents per $1,000 of assessed home value, starting in 2017. A $300,000 home would see an increase of $144 annually.
Six school districts put up levies for the public to vote Feb. 9, with all of them passing that night. The final results, also released Friday afternoon: Evergreen School District passed with 61.65 percent, Green Mountain School District passed with 59.19 percent, Hockinson School District passed with 54.42 percent, La Center School District passed with 58.11 percent, Ridgefield School District passed with 64.14 percent and Vancouver School District passed with 71.43 percent.
