A man who stole a purse containing more than $2,000 from a local tire shop in May was sentenced Thursday to 60 days in jail, though he was given the option to serve half of his sentence on a work crew.
Doug Max Jahn, 24, pleaded guilty in Clark County Superior Court to second-degree theft and second-degree possession of stolen property. He asked the court for straight jail time because he worried he would not always have a ride to work crew.
“That’s a mature decision on your part,” Judge Suzan Clark told Jahn.
A co-defendant, Jordan Mackenzie Stoner, 23, was sentenced last week to 366 days in prison in this case and another.
The theft was reported at 4:37 p.m. May 4 at Vancouver Tires & Wheels Shop, 10317 S.E. Mill Plain Blvd. Surveillance video footage showed a man and woman entering the store and stealing the purse, which contained one of the store owners’ identification, credit cards and more than $2,000, Vancouver police said.
