Woodland — Woodland High School played host to the Future Business Leaders of America Winter Conference on Feb. 1. More than 290 students competed in individual group events, ranging from graphic design to how to budget for business. The event attracted a number of volunteer judges, including business owners, chamber of commerce members, city council members and board members. Rose Ruff, business teacher, FBLA adviser at Woodland High School and organizer of the event, worked for years in marketing before becoming a teacher two years ago. “I love so much about teaching, particularly the classes where I teach students about budgeting (and) balancing checkbooks, and (I) give them skills that will help them in life after high school,” she said in the Woodland Schools Weekly newsletter.
