A Red Robin Gourmet Burgers and Brews is now under construction in one of Battle Ground’s busiest retail locations, and a MOD Pizza won’t be far behind.

The Red Robin is taking shape at the 21-acre Millcreek Town Center, a commercial complex at Scotton Way and SR 503 that is anchored by a Wal-Mart Supercenter. The 4,534-square-foot restaurant should be ready for customers this summer, said T.J. Fontenette, owner of Principal Properties LLC, the project’s Vancouver-based development firm. There are three Red Robin restaurants in Clark County, all in Vancouver.

Meanwhile, Principal Properties is also at work on a nearby project, the Alder Pointe apartments, a 186-unit complex at 1511 S.W. 13th Ave. that is within the 17-acre Scotton Landing mixed-use development. The apartments, which the company bills as Battle Ground’s first luxury complex, should be ready for occupancy this summer, said Fontenette.

The apartment complex will feature what Fontenette says is Battle Ground’s first swimming pool, since the city has no public, school-based or commercial pools. Rents will initially start at $875 per month for a one-bedroom apartment, Fontenette said.

Back at the Millcreek Town Center, next up for restaurant development is MOD Pizza, a Bellevue-based fast-casual pizza chain. The company, which now has one location in Vancouver, has signed a lease for 2,640 square feet and the restaurant is also expected to open this summer. Fontenette said his company has also signed a deal with Great Clips for a barbershop at the town center.

A second construction phase will likely include a commercial tenant with drive-thru service, although Fontenette declined to name the company. That second phase will be developed when other leases are in place, Fontenette said. He expects to be able to announce possible tenants that would occupy about 30,000 square feet of space by the end of this year.

In total, the Millcreek Town Center will have approximately 190,000 square feet of retail/commercial space, including the Wal-Mart store.
