A 60-year-old woman was hospitalized after another driver fell asleep and collided head-on with her car Wednesday afternoon in Camas, said Camas Police Sgt. Scot Boyles.

Boyles said a 20-year-old driver was heading east on Northwest Lake Road shortly before 4 p.m. when he fell asleep, drifted over the centerline and struck the woman’s car near Northwest Lake Road and Sierra Street.

The man was unharmed, and the woman was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, Boyles said. He said the Camas Police Department was not yet releasing the names of the two drivers.

The man was cited for second-degree negligent driving, he said.

Traffic on Lake Road, one of the city’s main thoroughfares, was shut down for about an hour, he said.
