A chair fell from the bed of a pickup Wednesday on Interstate 205, leading to a rear-end crash that sent a Ridgefield woman to a hospital.

Troopers said Rachel R. Alexander, 37, of Vancouver was driving north on the highway around 1:45 p.m. when a chair fell from her truck near Mill Plain Boulevard.

Troopers worked to clear the roadway, which slowed traffic. That’s when a tractor-trailer driven by Southavy J. Khamisngratsombat, 47, of Renton stopped for the delay and Debra F. Robinson, 49, of Ridgefield struck the rear of his rig with her vehicle.

Robinson, who was not wearing a seat belt, was injured and taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center, state Patrol said. The hospital said Wednesday afternoon that she was in satisfactory condition. Khamisngratsombat was unhurt.

State Patrol said the pickup’s loose load and Robinson following too closely caused the crash. Alexander was cited for failure to secure a load, State Patrol said.
