East County Fire & Rescue is offering a course to educate residents about disaster preparedness.
The Community Emergency Response Team program trains participants in basic disaster response skills such as fire safety, search and rescue, team organization and disaster medical operations.
The course requires 20 hours of training for certification. Trainings take place on two Friday evenings, 7 to 9:30 p.m. on April 1 and 8, and two Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on April 2 and 9, at the agency’s fire station 91, 600 N.E. 267th Ave. in Camas.
Class size is limited, so those interested are encouraged to register by calling 360-834-4908 or by visiting www.ecfr.us. The course costs $30, which covers training supplies and materials.
