An Evergreen Public Schools teacher is on paid administrative leave, according to a letter sent from the district to Mountain View High School band students and their families.

The letter states: “Since late December, Mountain View Band Teacher Mr. Eric Smedsrud has been on administrative leave as we conduct an ongoing personnel investigation. Since it is personnel-related, we are unable to provide any details other than to say it does not impact current student and school safety.”

The letter is signed by Mountain View High School Principal Matt Johnson.

The district has hired a qualified long-term substitute teacher to fill in for Smedsrud, and plans to add a second long-term substitute to help out.
