Alexa Efraimson’s indoor track season took another step on Sunday.
The Camas runner placed seventh in the 1,500 meters against an elite field at the New Balance Grand Prix in Boston.
Efraimson’s time of 4 minutes, 12.06 seconds is an indoor personal best for the 18 year old. The race was won by Ethiopia’s Dawit Seyaum in 4:01.86, the fastest time in the world this year.
Efraimson will run in New York on Saturday in the Wanamaker Mile, one of the most prestigious indoor races in the nation. She also plans to run in the USATF Indoor Track and Field Championships in Portland on March 11-12.
Efraimson opened her season Jan. 30 with a victory in the mile at the UW Invitational in Seattle.
