Police responded Friday night to a report of a bank robbery at a Key Bank branch in east Vancouver, just as the bank office was closing.

Vancouver Police Sgt. Mike Chylack said officers received word of a robbery at the bank, at 13215 S.E. Mill Plain Blvd., around 6 p.m.

Chylack said a man holding a bag to obscure part of his face entered the bank then handed the teller another bag.

No weapon was seen or implied during the robbery, Chylack said, but the robber had his hand in his pocket.

“He said ‘Give me your money or it’s going to go badly,'” Chylack said.

Police described the robber as a shorter black man — about 5 feet 5 inches tall — of medium build and in his late 40s or early 50s.

Officers and a police dog searched the area, but came up empty.

The man left heading south, Chylack said. The police said he was seen wearing a forest green jacket, black gloves, blue jeans, a camouflage fishing hat and black sunglasses.
