I know we can’t get used to the weather we had the past few days because, after all, it is still winter. Regardless, spring fever abounds in Clark County and lots of people had smiles on their faces.
Temperatures Monday and Tuesday were in the 70s along the coast. Clam diggers on the Long Beach Peninsula where treated to a fantastic sunset Tuesday evening and most were wearing T-shirts and shorts. The temperature hovering around 70 degrees — does it get any better than that?
Those temperatures were way above average and warmer than many days during the summer. The warmth pushed up many daffodils and tulips around the area far ahead of schedule. I bet that old groundhog is smiling!
Speaking of a beautiful sunset at the beach, did you rise early yesterday morning to see the super-red sunrise? Some called the picture an epic. What a treat. I know this weather is getting everyone excited about spring. But nature is most likely waiting in the wing, with winter poised to pounce back upon us.
A weak weather system fizzled out, moving inland Wednesday as we figured. Another one arrives today and brings some showers around western Washington. On Friday, yet another arrives, lingering into early Saturday, with the strongest of the series is on tap for Saturday night and Sunday. Maybe a break in the action on Monday, Washington’s birthday?
Snow levels will be high, heading lowering at times to the passes or slightly below. Overall, it will be a yo-yo situation, with snow levels bouncing up and down the next five days. I noticed this week some rocky crags showing on both Mount St. Helen’s and Mount Hood. Time for a refresh, I think.
As we return to a period of unsettled weather, keep the warm memories of the sunny skies from earlier this week. No worry, they will peek through as we dance between the showers.
