Nominations are being accepted for the Florence B. Wager Awards, which aim to honor exemplary parks-and-recreation boosters in Clark County. The Parks Foundation of Clark County launched the awards in 2011 in honor of Florence Wager, a tireless local parks activist, who died in 2012.

“Florence was a leader among leaders in our community,” said Parks Foundation executive director Temple Lentz. “She was a strong citizen advocate and a true champion of parks and recreation. It was her passion, and we benefit every day from her legacy.”

There are three award categories:

• The Leading Eagle award recognizes a community leader in any sphere who has also been a leader in parks, trails and recreation programs.

• The V-Formation Flyer award is for a spirited volunteer whose dedication is far beyond the norm.

• The Tributary Award is for a parks-and-recreation department professional — but not a manager or senior staffer — who goes beyond the norm in developing new programs, new resources or new efficiencies to help the public better connect with local parks and recreation.

Visit www.parksfoundation.us/awards or call 360-487-8370 to learn more and get a nomination packet. Nominations must be submitted by March 10 to the Parks Foundation office, P.O. Box 61424, Vancouver, 98666, or by email to temple.lentz@parksfoundation.us.

Awards will be presented at the Parks Foundation’s annual luncheon on May 10. Tickets are available online at www.parksfoundation.us or by calling 360-487-8370.
