Clark College annouces new athletics Hall of Fame class

Gary Boggs, Bryony (Chase) Melcher, Steve Hook, and the 2007 NWAC champion men’s soccer team have been selected for induction into the Clark College Athletics Hall of Fame.

A banquet and ceremony is schedule for 6 p.m. Feb. 20 in the Penguin Union Building. Tickets are $25 a person. Ticket registration for the event can be found at www.clarkcollegefoundation.org/hallfame2016.

The inductees will also be introduced during halftime of the men’s basketball game that day. The game tips off at 4 p.m.

Boggs was a standout track athlete at Clark in 1960 and 1961. He was also known in the community for coaching football at Fort Vancouver High. He died in 2011. His family will be accepting the honor.

Melcher was a standout on the women’s basketball team and was named the 2001 NWAC player of the year.

Hook was a standout on the men’s basketball team, receiving all-league and all-tournament honors.

The Clark men’s soccer team went 17-1-3 in 2007 in winning the NWAC championship. It was Clark’s second NWAC championship, the first coming in 1997.
