The Washington State University Clark County Extension is offering two series of classes to help people reduce their risk of Type 2 diabetes, lose weight and become more physically active.

The 16-week programs include one-hour meetings each week, followed by one-hour meetings one time per month for eight months.

The two upcoming series are 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays, beginning March 8, and 1 to 2 p.m. Thursdays, beginning March 10. Classes are held at The Heritage Farm, 1919 N.E. 78th St., Vancouver.

Each week, participants will be weighed privately, receive printed materials, learn about food choices and activity that will help them to lose weight and develop a lifelong eating plan to prevent diabetes.

Pre-registration is required. There is a fee for the class, but some insurance plans cover the cost. For more information, or to register for the class, call 360-397-6060 ext. 5700.
