A woman accused of stealing a purse that contained more than $2,000 from a local tire shop in May was sentenced Wednesday to 366 days in prison.
Jordan Mackenzie Stoner, 23, previously pleaded guilty in Clark County Superior Court to second-degree theft and second-degree possession of stolen property, as well as second-degree burglary in a separate case.
She initially faced an additional count of second-degree possession of stolen property and one count of possession of another’s identity. However, those counts were dismissed in exchange for her guilty pleas.
A co-defendant, Doug Max Jahn, 24, is facing the same charges. His case is pending, court records show.
The theft was reported at 4:37 p.m. May 4 at Vancouver Tires & Wheels Shop, 10317 S.E. Mill Plain Blvd. A male and female are seen on surveillance video footage entering the store and swiping the purse, which contained one of the store owners’ identification, credit cards and more than $2,000, Vancouver police said.
In an earlier case, Stoner entered the Wal-Mart at 221 N.E. 104th Ave. on Dec. 3, 2014, despite having previously been banned from the store, according to court records.
During sentencing, Judge Derek Vanderwood agreed to follow the attorneys’ previously agreed-upon sentence of 366 days total. The sentences for both cases will run concurrent.
Stoner’s Vancouver defense attorney, Bob Vukanovich, reiterated that his client has a substance abuse issue and plans to get treatment in Oregon. “That’s what’s driving this criminal history,” he said.
Stoner told Vanderwood she’s sorry for her actions and wants to work on her drug problem.
She was given credit for 43 days in custody and was ordered to pay $3,000 in restitution, to be split with her co-defendant.
