Heritage DECA students qualify for state, international competitions

Orchards — Heritage High School’s DECA team had a strong showing at the Area 9 competition on Jan. 9 in Longview, with 22 students qualifying for the state competition March 3-5 in Bellevue. Four students qualified for international competition, taking place April 22-27 in Nashville, Tenn., where they will go up against students from Canada, China, Germany, Guam and Mexico. Cassidy Morris and Mallory Vanover will compete in Selling at Nashville for their work with the Wolf Den Caf?. The students wrote a 25-page description about the store and hot to run a store, earning a gold certification. Manuel Gonzalez-Garcia and Elise Standiford also qualified for the Nashville competition for their second-place finish in the Hospitality Team Decision Making category for their Learn and Earn Project for Little T-Wolf Camps.
