Prairie rallied in the fourth quarter of a Class 3A district tournament battle of Falcons, but a last-second 3-point attempt that would have won Wednesday’s game “went in and out and in and out,” coach Kyle Brooks said, as Foss escaped with a 42-40 victory.
Roberto Gittens had 14 points and nine rebounds to lead Foss (13-7), scoring about eight points fewer than his season average.
Demet Crosby and Donald Scott each added 10 points for Foss.
“It was tight,” Brooks said of the game. “We struggled out of the game in the first half. Our kids did a phenomenal job of getting back into the game in the second half. It was a tough road game, and we gave ourselves a chance at the end.”
Prairie (17-5) never trailed by more than five points, briefly leading during the third quarter and entering the final period facing a 32-27 deficit.
