Week 9 winter sports prep athlete of the week nominees

Weekly vote, sponsored by Athletes Corner, continues through Thursday

Here are the nominees for The Columbian winter sports prep athlete of the week, sponsored by Athletes Corner, for the week ending Feb. 6.

Voting will continue until 8 p.m. Thursday, with results announced in Friday’s edition of The Columbian.

SHANNON BLIQUEZ, EVERGREEN GIRLS BOWLING: Bliquez tied for fourth over at the 4A state tournament with a 1188 series, helping Evergreen place second as a team.

ASHLYN DAUGHERTY, WOODLAND GIRLS WRESTLING: The freshman improved to 15-5 by winning the 100-pound division of the sub-regional tournament with a pin.

SARAH ELLIS, COLUMBIA RIVER GYMNASTICS: Ellis won 3A/2A district titles in the vault, bars and all-around with a score of 35.725.

WILL TAISACAN, MOUNTAIN VIEW BOYS WRESTLING: Taisacan won the 113-pound title at the 4A district meet with three pins, including the final in 37 seconds.

TYRUS HOSLEY, EVERGREEN BOYS BASKETBALL: Hosley scored 28 points against Union and 33 points against Battle Ground, including the game-winning 3-pointer.
