Two shutouts produced a state championship for a under-12 girls soccer team from Pacific FC.

A 3-0 win over a team from Bellevue on Saturday and a 2-0 win over a Crossfire Select team on Sunday made Pacific FC Breakers champions of the Washington Youth Soccer Founders Cup tournament.

The Breakers were the only team from Clark County to win a Founders Cup title. Three other area teams participated in the Founders Cup championship weekend at the Starfire Complex in Tukwila.

In the semifinal win over a Bellevue Youth Soccer Club team goals were scored by Maddie Enright, Olivia Rude and Pomai Romano. In the championship win over Crossfire Select, Enright and Gema Granados scored the goals.

Goalkeeper Liberty Furth earned both shutouts. In seven tournament games, Breakers defenders Amanda Jeschke, Rayelle Stephens, Tess Raz, Emily Colgate and Sydney Johnson allowed only three goals.

Other players for the Breakers were: Kaci Krippner, Josie Rinta, Shaela Bradley, Colleen Scott, Andie Buckley, Olivia Ike and Rachel Edmonds. The Breakers’ coach was Bob Ludahl.

Washington Timbers Burgundy from Vancouver reached the finals of the Founders Cup in the under-14 boys division where it lost on Sunday. Two teams from Vancouver lost in Saturday’s semifinal round: the Washington Timbers Burgundy in the boys under-16 tournament and the Pacific FC Strikers in the boys under-17 tournament.

In the boys under-14 division, the Timbers Burgundy won their semifinal by beating Southlake Select United 2-1. Carter Holt scored with an assist from Daniel Kruzhkov and Dauda Woodruff scored with an assist from Julian Rodriguez. In Sunday’s championship, Kent United Green beat the Burgundy 2-0.

Other players for the under-14 Burgundy were Lucas Horowitz, Edgar Ruesga, Scott Stevison, Andrew Onofrei, Arthur Jeanmarie, Derek Simpson, Colin Carruthers, Matthew Sorbel, Ethan Smiley, Ethan Paulsen, Spencer Twyman and Alix Orihuela. The head coach was Darryl Horowitz, assisted by Brian Holt and Loren Stevison.

The under-17 Pacific FC Strikers saw their bid for a second consecutive Founders Cup title end with an overtime loss in Saturday’s semifinals. A Crossfire Select team scored three goals in the extra 30 minutes to win 4-1. Grant Jefferies tied the score 1-1 late in the second half with assists from Jonathan Flury and Mark Fabyanchuk.

Other players for the Strikers were: Killian Burris, Kaleb Fletcher-Haggard, Brittan Gullickson, Brandon Hazlett, Drew Henderson, Scottie Mehan, Zion Moore, Casey Morgan, Kyle Orozco, Jason Osborn, Pete Promkod, Masaki Rhodes, Alexander Ulman and Drew Williams. The Strikers were coached by Julie Williams and Keenan Burris.

The under-16 Timbers Burgundy boys suffered a 3-2 loss in Saturday’s semifinals to a Crossfire Select team in a game decided in the last five minutes. Ryan Brown scored for Burgundy in the first half off an assist from Colby Burns-Atkins. Justin Cibart converted from a corner kick early in the second half to put the Burgundy up 2-1 before Crossfire rallied. Goalkeeper Tristan Glaser made several key saves early in the match.

One of four state tournaments staged by Washington Youth Soccer, the Founders Cup is the state tournament for developmental-level teams that do not advance beyond state tournament play.
