Two jail inmates face additional charges after assaulting another inmate and stealing items he purchased at the jail commissary, according to court documents.

Alejandro Mendoza, 24, and Arthur Martinez, 45, both made first appearances in Clark County Superior Court on Monday on charges of first-degree robbery and second-degree assault after deputies investigated a fight that happened last week.

Inmate Chris McNicholas had been talking on the telephone Tuesday and returned to his cell to find $30 of items he’d purchased from the jail commissary missing, according to court documents.

At about 8:45 a.m. the next day, Mendoza and Martinez punched McNicholas in the head and splashed cleaning solution on his face, according to court documents.

Both Mendoza and Martinez are scheduled to be arraigned on the charges Feb. 19.
