BATTLE GROUND — Haley Phillips of Yacolt turns 21 on Tuesday, and instead of counting down the days until she can get into a bar, she’s asking her neighbors to help her collect 2,100 items for homeless dogs and cats in Clark County.
An item is considered a toy or a treat, or pounds of food, where one pound is equal to one item.
So far, Phillips has collected more than 900 items for the drive. Donations can be dropped off at four locations: Battle Ground Curves, 813 W. Main St. No. 105, Battle Ground; Literary Leftovers, 813 W. Main St. No. 108, Battle Ground; Orchards Curves, 11700 N.E. 95th St. No. 140, Vancouver; and East Vancouver Curves, 1901 N.E. 162nd Ave. No. D105, Vancouver.
Donations can also be made in Phillips’ name to the Humane Society for Southwest Washington. Phillips can be reached at lehphillips@gmail.com
