SEATTLE — Ryan Anderson scored 22 points and grabbed 15 rebounds, Kadeem Allen hit a 3-pointer with 1:01 left as the shot clock expired and No. 23 Arizona held on for a 77-72 win over Washington on Saturday.
Anderson was a force on the inside, making 6 of 12 shots and hitting 10 of 11 free throws, and Allen’s big shot gave the Wildcats a 75-70 lead. It was just his second basket of the game after missing his first six shots. Andrew Andrews hit a pair of free throws for Washington, but Anderson came up with an offensive rebound after Gabe York missed a jumper with 23 seconds remaining. Anderson hit both free throws and the Wildcats were able to escape.
York finished with 18 points, including four 3-pointers.
Andrews led Washington (15-8, 7-4 Pac-12) with 20 points, but the Huskies dropped their sixth straight to the Wildcats.
Dusan Ristic added 11 points off the bench for the Wildcats, who dominated with their size on the interior and got just enough outside shooting to hold on.
Marquese Chriss added 18 points for Washington before fouling out in the closing seconds, but the Huskies made just one of their final seven shot attempts. Matisse Thybulle added 11 points and six steals, while Dejounte Murray was held to 11 points on 4 of 14 shooting after scoring a career-high 34 earlier this week against Arizona State.
Washington opened the second half on a 13-2 run fueled by four dunks and took a 51-46 lead. Arizona answered in a flash, pulling even at 51 on York’s third 3-pointer, and pushed the lead to 56-51 on Mark Tollefsen’s basket with 11 minutes left. The Huskies responded in a hurry with five straight points from Andrews, and it remained a one possession game until Anderson hit two free throws with 6:22 left to give the Wildcats a 64-59 lead. After Thybulle split free throws for the Huskies, Anderson tracked down an offensive rebound and hit a 17-footer for a 66-60 Arizona lead.
There was one rally left for the Huskies. Andrews capped a six-point spurt with a transition 3-pointer to pull even at 66-all but missed a 3 on Washington’s next possession with a chance to take the lead. Chriss put the Huskies up 68-67 with a 15-footer, but York answered with a 3 with 2:38 left for a 70-68 lead. Two free throws from Malik Dime pulled Washington even.
Anderson hit a pair of free throws with 1:43 left before Allen’s 3-pointer gave the Wildcats the cushion they needed.
Washington fed off the energized home crowd in the opening minutes, but an early nine-point lead was gone midway through the half after five straight points from Allonzo Trier capped a 14-2 Arizona run and gave the Wildcats a 29-24 lead. The Huskies pulled back in front 38-36 but lost track of York twice in the final 90 seconds of the half and watched the 45 percent 3-point shooter knock down a pair of open 3s to give the Wildcats a 44-38 lead at halftime.

Washington: Washington’s last win over Arizona was Feb. 18, 2012, a 79-70 win in Seattle. … The Huskies played before their first sellout crowd at home since the 2011-12 season.
