Vancouver Police K-9 Enzo now has a bullet- and stab-protective vest, so now each of the agency’s police dogs has one.

The vest, a donation from Georgia nonprofit Canine Wounded Heroes, arrived this week, Vancouver Police Department spokeswoman Kim Kapp said.

The agency’s other two dogs, Tripp and Ivar, received their vests recently. That donation was made by Shana Greene of Newcastle, near Bellevue, through Vested Interest K-9s, a Massachusetts-based nonprofit that provides the protective vests for police dogs.

Two of the Clark County Sheriff’s Office dogs, Jango and Ringo, were promised vests this year after a local family and nonprofit organization raised the money to purchase the vests in less than a day.

Kapp said that because the vests are new equipment, Enzo, Tripp, Ivar and their handlers are testing them out during trainings.
