Kaiser Permanente members living in Battle Ground will soon be able to see a physician closer to home.
This spring, Kaiser will open a new neighborhood medical office at 720 W. Main St. in office space that previously housed PeaceHealth medical offices. The 7,000-square-foot clinic will be in the Battle Ground shopping complex anchored by Safeway and Walgreens stores.
“We recognized a need to increase our physical footprint in order to keep pace with our growing membership in Clark County,” said Martina Fetter, senior administrator in charge of Kaiser’s Southwest Washington ambulatory care operations, in a news release. “We look forward to joining the Battle Ground community and providing our members there the option of seeing doctors right in their neighborhood.”
Kaiser officials hope to open the new facility in June. The office will be open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The medical office will house four primary care physicians who will see patients of all ages, either in person or by virtual visits. The providers will be able to serve about 5,000 patients. The office also will be equipped to offer video consultations with physicians and specialists at other Kaiser offices.
In addition, the Battle Ground office will have on-site lab services and a separate room for minor medical procedures, such as removing moles and toenails and treating lacerations.
In recent years, Kaiser has opened three of these smaller medical offices in Oregon and is now expanding the model to Clark County.
Kaiser Permanente has about 100,000 members in Clark County and currently has four local offices: Cascade Park medical and dental offices, Orchards Medical Office, Salmon Creek medical and dental offices and Mill Plain One Medical Office.
The majority of Kaiser’s Battle Ground members currently go to the Salmon Creek medical office, which is about 10 miles away, said Kaiser spokeswoman Debbie Karman.
The Battle Ground medical office will be Kaiser’s second new office opening in 2016. Last month, Kaiser opened medical and dental offices in Eugene, Ore.
