Leadership classes for middle and high school girls start Saturday, Feb. 13, through YWCA Clark County’s new Women’s Leadership Center.

The center is located at YWCA’s main office at 3609 Main St. In partnership with Girls Inc., which provides youth leadership curriculum, YWCA will start offering four-hour Saturday workshops on media literacy, career readiness, and community leadership and service to girls age 12 through 18.

Those taking the classes will be mentored by local leaders. YWCA plans to expand class offerings to women of all ages in 2017.

To register, visit www.ywcaclarkcounty.org or call Kate Sacamano at 360-906-9123. A one-day workshop is $75 and a two-day workshop is $140, which includes lunch.

Launching the leadership center serves the changing needs of the community and follows the mission of YWCA Clark County “to empower women through mentoring, fellowship, education, and support,” the nonprofit said. YWCA, which has been around since 1916, is best known for its work with domestic violence victims.
