Karlene and Scott Lusby of Portland search for different species of birds and other wildlife with binoculars Monday afternoon at the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge. Officials closed part of the refuge and canceled a bird hunt last week due to safety concerns connected to the ongoing standoff between armed protestors and law enforcement in Southeast Oregon. The Ridgefield refuge has since re-opened, and the regular waterfowl hunting schedule has resumed, according to the refuge.
