Boys basketball: Heritage 45, Rainier (Ore.) 43

The Timberwolves won the Vince Dulcich Tournament in Astoria, Ore., by going 3-0 in the six-team event.

Jander Cline scored 12 points and Josh Patton 11 in the win over Rainier, which it a 3-pointer at the buzzer to make the final score close.

Coach Drew Preuninger said it was the defense that carried the Timberwolves.

“It was all about the defense,” he said. “We held Rainier to 43 points, and our first opponent to 29. Our success was defense and rebounding well.”

Heritage (6-5) has won four consecutive games. It was coming off a 79-71 double overtime win over Astoria on Wednesday night.
